Our Year 2 pupils at St Gregory’s Catholic Academy had a fantastic time diving into the world of Electricity during their recent Science lesson. The classroom was full of curiosity, thoughtful questions and lively discussion as pupils explored how electricity shapes the way we live today.

Life Then and Now

Children compared modern life with a time before electricity, imagining what everyday routines might have been like using candles and lanterns instead of lights, and fires instead of cookers. Some pupils were fascinated by the idea of visiting the “olden days” to experience life without electrical appliances.

Thoughtful Questions and Brilliant Discussion

The lesson prompted some brilliant thinking, including an insightful comment from Lukas, who said:

“Imagine how long it would take to get hot water for a bath if you had to heat it with pans and a fire!”

Moments like this showed just how deeply pupils were engaging with the topic and applying their learning to real‑life situations.

Learning Through Curiosity

It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, imagination and confidence during the lesson. Activities like this encourage children to think critically, ask questions and develop a strong understanding of the world around them.

Well done to our Year 2 children for such excellent participation and thoughtful contributions — a truly electrifying lesson!
