Exploring the World From a New Angle

Nursery children at St Gregory’s Catholic Academy in Stockton have started an exciting new activity - Tummy Time! While often associated with babies, tummy‑down play can be hugely beneficial for all young children, helping them develop strength, coordination, and focus.

Observational Drawing Outdoors

As part of their Tummy Time session, the children went outside to carefully observe the beautiful daffodils growing at the front of the school. Lying comfortably on their tummies, they used crayons to create bright and thoughtful observational drawings of the spring flowers.

Building Strength Through Creativity

This simple but engaging activity helped the children strengthen their:

  • Core muscles
  • Shoulder and arm muscles
  • Stability and balance

At the same time, they enjoyed exploring nature and expressing themselves through art — a wonderful combination of physical development and creativity.

Fantastic Effort From Our Young Artists

The children approached this new challenge with enthusiasm and curiosity. Their drawings were fabulous, and it was lovely to see how focused and engaged they were throughout the session.

What a brilliant start to Tummy Time - well done, Nursery!
