Supporting Communication at St Gregory’s Catholic Academy
At St Gregory’s Catholic Academy in Stockton, our nursery children have been taking part in the wonderful Talk Boost intervention - a programme designed to strengthen communication and language skills in young learners. This has quickly become a highlight of their week!
Welcome to Tiger Club
Three times each week, the children attend Tiger Club with their friendly companion, Tizzy the Tiger. These small‑group sessions are filled with exciting games, lively songs, engaging stories, and meaningful conversations. Each activity is designed to help children grow more confident in speaking, listening, and expressing their ideas.
Building Language Through Play and Fun
The children absolutely love spending time with Tizzy. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen them:
- Join in more readily with group conversations
- Use new vocabulary in their play
- Grow in confidence when sharing ideas
- Develop stronger listening and understanding skills
Their enthusiasm shines through every session, and the impact on their communication has been clear and incredibly positive.
So Much Progress to Celebrate
The growth we’ve seen in our nursery children has been wonderful. We are extremely proud of their hard work, confidence, and excitement as they continue to blossom into enthusiastic communicators. Well done, everyone!
