St Gregory's Catholic Academy's Debate Club made a fantastic start to the year as pupils came together for their first debate of the new term.
The room was filled with excitement as children confidently shared their opinions on the thought-provoking question: "Should football be banned on the playground?"
Thoughtful Arguments and Confident Speaking
Pupils impressed staff with their ability to present clear and persuasive arguments, carefully explaining their viewpoints and backing up their ideas with thoughtful reasoning.
The debate encouraged children to think critically, organise their thoughts and speak confidently in front of their peers.
Listening and Respecting Different Opinions
As well as sharing their own views, pupils demonstrated excellent listening skills, showing respect for opinions that differed from their own.
The discussion was lively and engaging, with children responding to one another's ideas in a mature and considered way while developing their debating techniques.
Building Valuable Skills
The Debate Club provides pupils with opportunities to strengthen their communication, critical thinking and public speaking skills in a supportive environment.
Staff were delighted to see the enthusiasm and confidence displayed by the children, many of whom embraced the challenge of debating with great maturity.
