Education and Welfare for pupils with English as an additional language

St Gregory’s recognises how challenging it can be for a child to have to learn a new language as well as everything else at school. When children come to us who have to learn English as an additional language, they are assessed as soon as possible by the Local authority’s multilingual support service. This service gives us detailed advice on how best to work with the child. We also provide additional adult support wherever necessary so that children can access the curriculum as part of their class as quickly as possible.

St Gregory’s has particular experience and expertise, developed over a number of years, in working with children from the Filipino community in Stockton.
