Last week, our children had an exciting and unforgettable experience as we welcomed a 999 emergency services call handler into school. The visit gave pupils a fascinating insight into how these real‑life heroes support people in need every single day.
The children were captivated from the start, eager to learn about the important role call handlers play in keeping our communities safe. They discovered how emergency calls are answered, how information is gathered, and how help is quickly sent to where it’s needed most.
Learning Through Real-Life Role Play
The highlight of the session was getting to see some of the equipment used in emergencies and taking part in role‑play scenarios. Pupils had the chance to:
- Practise what happens during a 999 call
- Learn when it’s appropriate to call for help
- Explore how different emergency teams work together
- Act out realistic emergency situations in a safe, supportive environment
Their enthusiasm was incredible - and they asked brilliant questions throughout!
Inspiring Young Minds
The visit not only taught our pupils valuable life skills but also encouraged them to think about kindness, responsibility, and the importance of helping others. Many children left the session inspired and excited about the idea of working in emergency services one day.
We are so grateful to our visitor for giving up their time to deliver such an engaging, educational experience. It’s moments like these that help our children grow into confident, caring members of the community.
A huge thank you from all of us — you made a real impact!
